During the couple of days between thunderstorms last week, the ground dried out just enough to get strawberries and another succession of brassicas in the ground. Last week this field had six heaps of compost, about 8 yd3 each spread on it. That should help keep the weeds down in the berries and hopefully speed the cauliflower and brussel sprouts through their early growth stages when they are most suceptible to pests.
